Another week, another CINEMA REMEMBERED. Check out my nerdy column over at THAT MOMENT IN – remembering the most pivotal moments.

This time, in a refreshing change of pace, the genre is Romantic Comedy (?!) with the cynical and creative 500 DAYS OF SUMMER.

That Moment

THIS WEEK: (500) DAYS OF SUMMER – (2009)

HOW IT STARTS: Our hero is elated over his new relationship with a girl named Summer.

THE PREFACE:Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Tom falls in love with Zooey Deschanel’s Summer in this cynical yet charming romantic comedy. One of the most intriguing elements of this hidden gem is how the story is told in non-sequential order. For example, you might see some rough patches in the relationship before you see the best moments. This interesting new direction automatically makes the movie more refreshing and creative than your average so-called “chick flick.”
